In April I flew to Johannesburg to work with the Advertising Firm DrafTFCB and the Coca Cola Company to create a series of rainbows over the Johannesburg Skyline. South Africa refers to itself as the Rainbow Nation because of the diversity of its people making a series of natural rainbows a very appropriate way to celebrate.
The plan was that a banner would be place on the side of the Coca Cola Building in downtown Johannesburg. I would the work with the DrafTFCB staff and the local fire department to create a series of rainbows around the city bringing rainbows to the people of Johannesburg. We scheduled a series of events at Mary Fitzgerald Square. The project was extremely demanding in that we created 0ver 9 rainbow from a series of vantage point across the city. The Draft team was extremely creative and a pleasure to work with.
The project was completed with a 2 minute documentary video which won 5 awards (1 Gold 2 silver and 2 Bronze) at the Cannes Lions Festival for Creative Media.
